Sunshine & Picnics!

Today was a beautiful day here in Korea.  And what better day to spend it than relaxing out in the sunshine with my husband?  We packed up a small lunch and some snacks, and headed to a little grassy area tucked away next to a pond.  It sure felt good to get some fresh air and let a little Vitamin D soak into my skin.  We caught up on some of our baby books, laughed, and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon!  My hubby also carved a sweet little message into a stick for me.. ;)

I can't wait to have another picnic.. and next time, instead of just the two of us.. it will be the three of us!  :)

The Nursery.. Practically Done!

This post will probably be a bit photo heavy.  Everything is ready for baby girl to be here.. the only thing I have left to do in the nursery is dust and vacuum.  Oh, and I do need to get a bumper for the crib.. but she will be sleeping in our room for a while, so I'm not worried about that quite yet.  I'm also waiting for prints I ordered from our maternity shoot so I can put a few up in her room with the rest of the frames on the wall.  :)  Here are some pictures of the room that's awaiting her arrival...

The lamp we had made here in Korea for her:)

Those books were some of my favorites when I was little.. :)  I think the nursery has come along well... especially since it looked like this not too long ago....

That's it!  Of course, I'll probably be adding a few things here and there after she arrives just because I'm always seeing things that I want to make or add on!  ;)  Especially more frames on the wall above her crib - I feel it needs more, for sure.  If I end up adding more things, I'll be sure to post them.

OVERWHELMED.

That word perfectly describes my day (and probably the rest of my week).  Two weeks until I pack up and head up to Seoul to wait for this precious baby girl to arrive.  And yet there's SO much I want to get done before then.  Note how I said want and not need.. most of them are just things that would be nice to accomplish before baby comes, and just a few things that need to be done.  But my list seems to be growing by the day.  I swear my head is going to spin out of control.  People ask me all the time, "Are you all ready?" and I never know how to answer that.  Because I am, but I'm not.  I am in the sense that we have everything we need for her to be here, but I still don't feel ready.  I just don't think it's possible to be fully 'ready' and 'prepared' for such a life-changing thing, especially because I'm a first time momma.  I'll tell you what I am ready for, though... my regular clothes, ankles that don't hurt and swell, sleeping on my stomach and my back again, and being able to put on my shoes without sitting down... and seeing that precious little one in my arms;)

I got a lot of things accomplished today, though.  So all is not lost.  :)  Hubby rearranged our bedroom and set up the bassinet, so sleeping arrangements are ready for her arrival!  I ran a few errands today, put away winter clothes and got out the summer clothes so I don't have do that after I get back from the hospital, and got all the laundry and cleaning done so I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the week.  And today was also my last day of work (yay)!  Because man is this week a busy one.  I have Bible study, my 36 week check-up, and we also have a labor class and hospital tour to go to up in Seoul this week -- exciting!  We also have to make a few other appointments, such as talking with someone about paperwork for baby girl's passport and visa, etc.  And I need to make a list of things I need to take with me when I leave for Seoul, as well as pack the diaper bag for baby girl.  AND all the cute blankies, headbands, booties, and beanies I need to crochet up for her!  Haha, ok so I might not get to do all of those before she's here.  Also, pictures of her nursery will go up in the next few days, hopefully.

So tonight my hubby is working... and I think I'm going to end this day by taking a nice bubble bath, making some ice cream sammies, and then browsing my new obsession, Pinterest, for some more ideas on things to create for our beautiful princess.  Oh, and then I'll probably be doing some of this...

Laying on the couch, enjoying baby girls kicks:)
Thanks to my husband for taking this a few days ago... I'm pretty sure I was sleeping here, ha ha.

Picture update for you -- 35 weeks 2 days.  It was a lazy (and HOT) Sunday, hence the tank and shorts.  Housing has yet to turn the A/C on -- ugh!  My dad says it looks like I swallowed a basketball, ha ha!  I think it's crazy how much weight I've gained, yet it's all in the belly... love it.

Sugar Attack...

My weekend consisted of some pretty awesome things.  Shopping trip to Namdaemun Market, baby shower, baking, naps, and the company of great friends.  Kind of sounds like the perfect weekend, right?  Now if only the pool would open so I could go lounge around and get some sun on my legs before baby girl gets here!

To the left is walking through part of Namdaemun Market (it's huge) and to the right is just a portion of all the beautiful wrapping papers and tissue papers.  Seriously - there was so much and they are amazing.  You can't find wrapping paper this pretty in the states anywhere.  I'm definitely going to stock up on their wrapping paper, tissue paper, and greeting cards before we PCS out of here next year (oh, and fabric too) !!

Just 3 more weeks until I head up to Seoul and wait for baby girl to be born.  I can't believe it's coming up so fast -- so many things I want to do, yet I just want to relax and enjoy this last bit of time that we have of it being 'just us'.  It's hard to do both, ha ha!

And what would be a weekend without baking?  My husband wanted me to make these this weekend.. Can you guess what these beautiful little brownies have inside them?  Can ya, can ya, can ya?

Golden Oreos!!

I just love goodies that have little surprises in them.  So much fun.  Although I could only eat a few because I would have gone into a sugar-induced coma if I had any more.. they were delicious!  Especially good while warm with a little vanilla ice cream.  :)  It's a miracle I haven't gained more than I already have during this pregnancy... so I'm trying to quit while I'm ahead, ha ha!

Oreo Stuffed Brownies
  • 1 box brownie mix (or make your own, if that strikes your fancy)
  • 1 package oreos
Preheat oven to 350 F & generously coat cupcake/muffin tins with nonstick spray.  Prepare brownie mix according to package.  Dip oreos in brownie batter then place in bottom of cupcake/muffin tins.  Bake 12-15 minutes, or until brownie is cooked through.  As soon as you remove them from the oven, run a knife around the edges so they are easier to get out once they cool a little.  Let cool 5 minutes, then remove from tins and enjoy.  :)  It should make the whole package of oreos.

Pretty Plastic Bag Organizer

So while I was cleaning out the laundry room last weekend, I came across a huge problem.  Plastic bags.  No wonder why I didn't have any cabinet space -- they were stuffed full of plastic bags (I always forget to bring my own bags when we go grocery shopping).  We do use plastic bags here and there for certain things around the house, but my problem was out of control.

There are plastic bags within plastic bags within plastic bags within plastic bags... you get the idea.  Hundreds.  Of.  Bags.  I was a tad disgusted with myself at this point.

And a while ago I saw a super easy tutorial on Martha Stewart's website for a Pretty Plastic Bag Organizer.  Perfect for my plastic bag problem.  And I've decided that I only need to keep as many as that organizer can hold.  I found some some cute and colorful kitchen towels at the BX that were on clearance for way cheap, so I snagged myself some and got to work.

3 bucks for 3 kitchen towels & 15 minutes of my time.. a cheap (and pretty cute) solution for my little fiasco, right?  I think so!

Weekend In Pictures..

=
Beautiful sunshine... definitely sundress weather!

New purse as one of the 'Mother's Day' gifts from my sweet, sweet husband.
Fabulous & summery... and my favorite color.  :)

A weekend wouldn't be complete without some baking, would it?
Not mine, at least.
S'mores Cookie Bars!

Picked up some beautiful fabric -- I can't wait to show you what I'm going to do with it!  :)

Enjoyed the greenery and beautiful flowers that are blooming everywhere!

And my 'big project' for the weekend... the laundry room.  Scary, right?  I promise it doesn't look that way anymore:)

See?  I can see countertops!  And now everything has a place and a label.  :)  And I even put up a stain removal chart in a cute little frame, thanks to Martha Stewart.  There are a few other things I want to do in here, but I'll come back to that stuff later.  My goal of cleaning and organizing in this room is complete!

Room by room, I'm getting everything organized before baby... because in less than a month I get to go stay up at the 'Stork's Nest' and wait for baby to make her arrival!

I hope everyone had an fabulous, and fun-filled weekend!
